Magnetosphere: Fireflies

Another Magnetosphere visualization of Fireflies by Owl City. But this time, it’s in HD! Unfortunately, it’s in 16:10.

I always produce videos that are 1280 x 720, which qualifies as 720p HD. But, you may be asking, why aren’t any other videos on my YouTube channel HD? Because of QuickTime. That’s right. Apparently Apple converts all your videos to the iFrame format before uploading it to YouTube, which makes all my videos 960 x 540, or HQ. So this time, I decided to try out the YouTube web uploader. And it works! Glorious HD. In my hurry, though, I didn’t convert my video to 1280 x 720. Instead, it’s still stuck at 16:10. Oh well. Expect future videos to be 16:9 HD.

How To Upload a Video to YouTube

Uploading a video to YouTube is a breeze! But if you don’t know how to do it, here’s how. You’ll need a Google or YouTube account and a video file on your computer.

  1. Head on over to YouTube.com and hit the big yellow Upload button. Sign in.
  2. Click the “Browse” button to browse for the video file. Select the file you want to upload. Then click the “Upload Video” button to start the uploading process.
  3. Enter information about your video.
  4. Click the “Save changes” button.
  5. It can take from a couple minutes to an hour for your video to upload to YouTube. If you’re receiving an error with your upload, you might want to make sure you’re attempting to upload a file that’s recognized by YouTube. YouTube accepts video files in the .AVI, .MOV, .WMV, and .MPG file formats. Also, your video must be no larger than 1GB and no more than 10 minutes in length.
