Today was the official launch of Windows 7, Microsoft’s long awaited “Vista fix up OS.” While I’m still waiting to get a student discount on the super expensive operating system, Apple has come out with 3 new ads that attack Windows 7.

We recently put the release candidate of Windows 7 through its paces, and we have to say, we’re impressed. But when does it hit the shelves? Microsoft claimed that Windows 7 would be “available to customers in time for the holiday shopping season.” In a nutshell: this year. We can’t wait!
UPDATE: Microsoft has recently announced that it is going to be released on October 22. Thanks to reader Kevin who brought this to our attention.

All Macs come with GarageBand, which allows you to mix and match music loops to create your own masterpieces. What if you’re on Windows? Or Linux? Thankfully, LMMS lets you do just the same.
As you can see here, LMMS is a pretty full featured tool. You can get it free of charge at lmms.sourceforge.net.
