Go Retro with Pong

Over the past few weeks I’ve been working on a Java project called Pong. Pong was one of the first computer games ever invented, debuting in 1972. Basically, you have two paddles and a ball, and the paddles hit the ball. The ball speed increases with each bounce. If the paddle fails to catch the ball, then that paddle loses. What I wrote was a bot that automatically controls a paddle. As you can see in the video above, the bot’s name is Electrocuter, and it is practically unbeatable. It features enemy prediction, optimization, bounce calculation, and more. Want to try and beat it? You can download Pong for Windows or Mac OS X by hitting the download button.

Use Google Earth’s Hidden Flight Simulator!

By pressing Ctrl + Alt + A (or Cmd + Optn + A for Mac) in Google Earth, you unveil Google’s hidden flight simulator. It’s a great competitor to Microsoft Flight Simulator X, seeing as it’s free. Once in, select your plane and airport, or navigate to the place you want to start beforehand. Start your flight by pressing [Page Up] and controlling with the mouse. Check out the video above, and read up on these directions too. You’ll love this enthralling game. I’m not kiddin’!
